The dictionary defines champion as someone who is dazzlingly skilled in any field, clearly superior and has the attributes of a winner.

If this is the case then 18yo Mundijong teenager Todd Waddell is truly a champion.

In the past few years he has been able to carve out for himself an amazing and highly successful sporting career not only in one but two disciplines at opposite ends of the sporting spectrum- AFL Football and Speedway.

Playing for Centrals FC Colts level, 18 and under, in the Peel Football League, Todd was one of only two players from the club to be selected to play in a development squad with WAFL Peel Thunder this season.

He was described by his football coach as having natural fitness, great speed and agility, and all round knowledge of the game and an inspirational player to coaches and team mates and both his team mates and opposition players have the utmost respect whether they are playing with or against Todd, as he has this all round ability to become a match winner.

This week Todd attended the End of Season Presentations held at the Mandurah Sailing Club and was awarded seasons leading goal kicker for colts in the WAFL Peel Region (50 goals). His stats clearly show another big season in 2006.

There is every indication that he can certainly strive towards the next level of the game, be it state and perhaps even the national level. His talent is instantly recognizable and if the opportunity presents itself a future in the AFL is not out of the question.

Todd’s Speedway accomplishments speak for themselves. He has been the most decorated junior since the inception of the racing division over 30 years ago.

Taking a swag of trophies at the WA Speedcar Drivers Association presentation night for season 2005/2006-including Rookie of the Year Fairest and Best and Top Point’s Scorer - was the culmination of what has been a fairytale start to Todd’s entry into the senior ranks of Speedcar racing from Junior Sedans. He has amazed fans at Quit Motorplex with his gutsy driving ability -out gunning even the best and most experienced of opponents. His unmistakable awesome talent will no doubt see him emulate his junior achievements in the years to come at the state and national level and with already prospects in the USA an international driving career is not out of the question.

As a sportsman Todd Waddell is the – The Genuine Article - having star quality, professionalism and enormous popularity with the fans. He has a hunger for success with a steadfast focus and determination to win at all costs and to date he has been able to deliver the goods. He is comfortable with media attention being informed, articulate and confident and his presentation shows great maturity and resolve.

He is a shining representative for Sport and by definition - a true champion.
