The Magic Man Race

With the original date rained out earlier in the year, the pressure was really on come the rescheduled Magic Man Race. Two weeks prior to the 67th running of the Australian Speedcar Title at the Kwinana Motorplex, a large contingent of east coast hotshots were in town to take advantage of some extra track time and try to get there hands on what is the biggest prize purse in speedcar racing in Australia.

The weekends racing started off great with the Dicandilo Steel City stealth Esslinger qualifying second in time trials just behind the best speedcar pilot in Australia NSW Mark Brown. With the race format set as fastest to the rear Todd had some hard work to do during his heats but he didn’t let the team and supporters down. A win and a second in his heats was enough to put him second in the points behind Brown again for the legendary 34 lap final.

Starting off the front row with Mark Brown Todd slipped back a bit at the start struggling with a tight set up but always knew the car would come on later in the race so it was a case of holding on. And that it did in the last 10 laps to fight hard with some of the top guns in speedcar racing and steal 2nd place in the very last lap.
Todd said “to finish second to Mark Brown was a great result for the team and it was awesome to be part of such a special race in honour of such a legend of Australian speedway”.

Along with the very healthy 2nd prize payout Todd received a brand new stealth chassis courtesy of the Figliomeni Family.

RIP FIGS
