Youngest winner of LJM memorial race

The running of the 20th Anniversary of the LJM memorial race has been run and won by Nineteen year old speedcar ace Todd Waddell and in doing so Todd created his very own piece of history in being the youngest ever winner of the time honoured event held at the Bunbury City Speedway on Saturday night. Todd finished second in both of his heats which gave him enough points to start on the second row in the 30 lap feature event.

The current state champion and Kwinana Motorplex point’s leader had to survive three major race stoppages and eventually found himself on the front row of another restart. From then on the race was on and he and fellow rival Scott Glazebrook went about weaving through the traffic, Todd had managed to gain a substantial lead and looked set for an easy win until another stoppage on turn three saw his hard work reduced to nothing and with twelve laps to go he and Glazebrook put on some of the best racing of the night. Todd managed to hold off his rival with some skilful driving. But it went down to the wire with Todd taking a well deserved win to take the $5000 winners Cheque.
