Waddell Returns To Sydney For Champion Of Champions
With his 2009/10 Sprintcar campaign completed last weekend at the high banks of the Kwinana Motorplex in Western Australia, rookie sprintcar driver Todd Waddell has had no thoughts of slowing down as this weekend he returns to the wild and wingless Speedcars at Tyrepower Parramatta City Raceway.
Waddell has been given and accepted the opportunity to get behind the wheel of the immaculate Brad Dent owned Rondalee #11 Hawk/Aggressor.
Waddell has been away from the midget ranks for two seasons now racing Top Doorslammers on the drag strip and fulfilling his childhood dream of driving winged Sprintcars aboard the DiCandilo Steel City backed #60.
Although he hasn’t driven a Speedcar in anger during those two years, the former Western Australia Speedcar champion still carries a passion for the division he has had so much success in.
“I’m so grateful for this opportunity to drive for Brad Dent” Waddell said this week. “Brad owns and prepares one of the best quality cars in the division and I can’t wait to get back behind the wheel of a Speedcar. The Champion of Champions event is looking like it will be another highlight in my season as the field of competitors that I’ll be racing in will be one of the best seen in Australia this season.”
This will be the third time Waddell has raced a Speedcar on the Parramatta clay way having qualified for the A main in the Australian Championship in 2005/06 in his rookie season of Speedcars and again in 2006/07 for the Champion of Champions were he qualified in the top 10 for the feature race before breaking a timing belt on his Esslinger power plant.
Throughout his motorsport career Waddell has shown the talent to be able to adapt to what ever situation he has been exposed too, whether it has been controlling the 3000 plus raw horsepower of a Top Doorslammer on the strip or the finesse needed to run a midget on a rutty clay oval. He also understands just what it will take to adapt with a new team as that is something he has had to overcome in the last two seasons as well.
For Waddell this is not a case of going over for a weekend of fun it’s about competing at the highest level in a quality field and chasing only one result – to win!
Todd Waddell would once again like to thank Brad Dent and his team for the opportunity for this weekend and also all his loyal sponsors for their support during this season.
